Where IS Everybunneh?!

Hello dearies,

Here we are at the end of July and...we haven't posted anything in WEEKS?!  *Sigh*  Too much life has gotten in the way, I'm afraid.  That, and an "on again/off again" relationship with our internet provider has made for some very poor communication on our parts!

However, there's been a great deal of this going on....

"Nope.  Not coming out, mom.  Nuh-uh."

And an awful lot of this....

"Ahhhhh.  Now THIS is the life."

Pretty much summertime in a nutshell.  More to come, soooooooooon - we PROMISE!  Until then dearies, be well and stay cool, every bun!

Spider-Bun and Twinkle-In-A-Box!

Hello, Dearies!

Isn't it annoying when your bunnies (or other fur babies) do something awesome, silly, laughable and you DON'T have a camera to capture it?!  It so happens that I've been a lucky ducky lately, and actually DID have my camera on me for a few photo ops with the girls who were caught having a grand time or two.

For instance, I happened upon Cookie the other morning as she was...umm...well...making like Spider-Man and "hanging out":

It was a lucky image to capture 'cause when she spotted me, she immediately did the, "Oh my!  How'd I EVER get up HERE?!" and quickly leapt down.

And then, there is Twinkle Toes, who absolutely adores her gigantic supermarket cardboard boxes.  She first did the basic explore-a-box-hop to begin with, but a few days later, she was in full on WRESTLE-BOX-A-MANIA mode!  And here's the proof:

These lil' buns sure knows how to have fun!  Thanks to my girls for keeping me smiling!

Container Gardening Progress & Cookie Om Nom Nom(ming)!

Howdy there, dearies!

I know it's been another long stretch since my last posting.  But today I come baring images of my sweet little container/salad bowl garden project!  It's been quite an enjoyable learning experience - who knew I had green thumbs?   Not me!!  *points at self*

In this image:  1) the dark pot contains my zucchini, 2) the terra-cotta pot next to it is green bell pepper and Thumbelina carrots, and 3) on the raised white planter holder is 1 of 3 yummy salad bowl gardens.  Also in the mix (which you can't see), Patio tomato, snap peas, Kentucky Pole beans and 2 container herb gardens.
Salad bowl garden close up, a combo of Red Chard and alfresco salad blends.
The cucumber buds!  And, in the 2nd pic, I found my first cucumber the other morning, too.
Do I see a strawberry or 12?!  Oh YES I do!

And last but not least, we have an appearance by the one, the only....COOKIES AND CREAM!!!!

Om nom nom nom NOM!!!  My lil' bun loves her delicious homegrown salads, same as her mamma.  Hope you enjoy this as much as I have, dearies!

Until next time!

It's The Dog Days of Spring!

Hello dearies!  It's been a spell since the last post, but I've got reasons!  I swear!

SO MANY REASONS!

Well, most of my reasons are related to either...

a)  researching & trying to register/enroll in stuff
b)  gardening with all my Super Powers
c)  frolicking with bunnies & doggies (umm, not together)
d)  reading my eyes raw
e)  all of the above

Correct answer is....*JEOPARDY THEME PLAYS*..."E, All of the above"!

So, when the above isn't happening, then I'm trying to get this guy out of MY chair....

Pilot, deepest sleep EVER.

...so I can have a nap.  Yeah, right.  Good luck with THAT.  Ladies and gents and buns, the Dog Days of Spring are here!!!!

My (Not So) Secret Garden

Well, I went and did it.  I got myself into some full on container "salad bowl" gardening!  Over a 4 day stretch, I traveled around town pricing everything from pots to potting mix and ended up with a sweet little collection of herbs and veggies that left me AND the buns anxious for the harvest.

Soon enough, little ones.  Soon enough.  *wipes away drool*

Here's a looksee at The Master Plan, with a small cameo by the one and only...

*drumroll*

...Pilot!

Couple things I forgot to mention in the vid:  1) Sugar Snap Peas! - YUM!, 2)  Kentucky Wonder bean poles - YES!, and 3) Lavender Haze - great for attracting butterflies and hummingbirds.

Let's hope my 'green thumb' sticks and these beauties live for the harvest.  *bites lip*

More pics/vids to come!

FlatBonnie - Is She Really THAT Flat?!

A few days ago, a fellow bun blogger posted about a cute little Etsy shop called FlatBonnie where one can find - amongst other things - sweet bunny plush creations (my Lord!  Check out the "Ooopsie, Poopsie" set!), and/or even have a custom plush made to spec.

Megan (originator of the post), had a plush made of her own bun, Maddy.  Check her blog out HERE.

TOO CUTE, right?!

I loved Megan's blog, checked out FlatBonnie's Etsy shop (loved it too), then clicked over to FlatBonnie's website which is HERE, and....

Fell.  In love.  With this:

***FYI:  Adopt a FlatBonnie in the month of May and 20% of the sale will go to the rescue organization of your choice!***

Gardening For Bunnies

Not long ago, I was looking over my monthly expenses and realized...*GASP!*...What the heck happened to my grocery bill?!  It used to be so, so...so manageable and small (ish) and, and...gosh, it was even kind of cute!

(Yes, I just said my grocery bill was cute.)  He-hem.

A line by line receipt audit revealed the root of the problem:  repeated purchases of big-boxed-leafy-dark-green-salad mixes for my buns.  WOW, does the cost of these store bought beauties rise quickly when you've got TWO hungry bunnies instead of ONE and they're OM NOM NOMMING their way through several of them each month.

EEEK!

First thought was:  I will till the soil and plant my own garden!
Second thought was:  No way!

After some reading, research and web browsing, the solution to my dilemma came in the form of pots, pails and - of all things - reusable grocery store bags.  Here are two short vids (chosen from the array to be found over the inter web) demonstrating the 'How-To' and the ease of building your own very own container gardens:

How to make a Salad Bowl Container Garden

Making an Herb Garden with Reusable Grocery Bags

For this bunny mama it means an ease on rapid bank account depletion.  And for the buns?  Fresh yummy greens and herbs all summer long.

Om nom nom!  Pics to come!

Food For Thought....

Special thanks to The Bunny Bunch for putting this out today!

Excitement! (Umm, for the most part.)

Recently, I realized my camera had gone missing...bummer.  Especially since this bunny blog only JUST got started.  These things happen when you don't put things back where they live.  Well, you know, so I've been told.

My External Reaction:  Ok.  Better clean up and get organized.  *starts sorting*
My Internal Reaction:  WAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!  *stomps feet*

HAPPY NEWS is I found my camera before either reaction took place!  (And before any clean up actually commenced.)

And obviously the small & furries were over the moon with joy, too:

*Eh?  Huh?  Wassamatta?*

*Aww, mom...c'mon!"

*Uh-huh.  You're going to point that thing at me NOW.  Really.*

*Dude.  I'm napping.*

Look out everybody -  the camera is BACK!

Happy 1 Year Anniversary, Twinkle Toes!

It was one year ago this month, April 2011, that I found my sweet little bun, Twinkle Toes.  There was no question about it - she was The Bun For Me!  I immediately bought her a bunny home with all the fixins', including a great big bag of hay, a load of rabbit foods and a bunch of toys.  WOW!  My very own baby bunny was adopted and home with me at last!

I shot this vid of Twinkle, on Day 2 in her Forever Home.  She's the sweetest bun and is loved to bits.

Happy Anniversary, little one!

Run Rabbit, Run!

It's a rabbit!  Herding sheep!
The music is WWII's Flanagan & Allen, performing "Run Rabbit, Run".
Happy weekend!

Cookies & Cream Comes Home!

This sweetie is Cookies & Cream.  When I brought her home she was about 8 months old and had been at the local Humane Society for 6 weeks surrounded by barking dogs.  Needless to say, she was one stressed out lil' bun.

These pics were snapped on her first full day with me in her Forever Home, in February 2012.
